Man arrested after car crashes into front of house and bursts into flames

A man has been arrested after a car crashed into the front of a house and caught fire.

Police were called to Queensland Street in Edge Hill at around 9.20pm on Wednesday to reports a car had been involved in a crash with parked cars and burst into flames.

Officers also received calls a large group of people had also gathered on the street.

Pictures taken at the scene showed a car which had crashed into the front of a house and was severely damaged.

Debris could be seen on the floor and the front and side of the car appeared to have the most damage.

£123,000 seized, 68 arrested and 25kg of drugs found in huge crime blitz

Drug dealing routes reaching across the UK from Merseyside have been closed down in a massive blitz on illicit trading networks.

Sixty eight people have been arrested, £123,000 seized and 25kgs of drugs recovered across a week-long campaign targeting criminals operating coast to coast.

A machete was among almost a dozen weapons also removed from the streets by police.

Merseyside Police officers took to the streets of North Wales, Cumbria, Cheshire and Shropshire as the force sought to make clear those running drugs from Liverpool would remain under its gaze wherever they took their business.

Explosion heard as ‘tornado’ sends trampoline and debris flying in storm

Merseyside was hit by flooding yesterday and in Widnes a tornado rocked a residential street – and there is more bad weather on the way.

The “mini tornado” caused trees to fell, smashed fences and toppled brickwork at peoples homes.

Residents on Kensington Close and Greenwich Avenue said they heard a sound described as similar to large hailstones or an aeroplane approaching the area before a sudden burst of noise compared to an explosion.

One man told the ECHO that he saw a trampoline flying 150ft in to the air.
