Severe weather threat continues overnight for our area

WELL, WELCOME BACK AS WE GO INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. I WANT YOU TO BE AWARE THAT MORE TORNADO ALERTS WILL BE POSSIBLE. LET’S START WITH WHAT THEY ARE IF WE ARE UNDER A WATCH THAT MEANS YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED VERY LIKELY OUR AREA WILL GO INTO A TORNADO WATCH IN THE NEAR YOU KNOW, X HOUR OR SO. THAT MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADOES TO FORM. IT DOESN’T MEAN THERE’S ACTUALLY ONE OF THE GROUND THAT HAPPENS WHEN A WARNING ISSUE WHEN YOU SEE A TORNADO WARNING ISSUED FOR YOUR COUNTY. THAT’S WHEN YOU TAKE ACTION YOU GET TO YOUR SAFE PLACE. THAT MEANS A TORNADO IS SPOTTED OR IS INDICATED ON DOPPLER RADAR. WHEN WE SEE A TORNADO EMERGENCY, THAT MEANS THAT A LARGE AND DANGEROUS TORNADO IS CONFIRMED TO BEYOND THE GROUND. THAT’S WHEN YOU TAKE ACTION YOU GET TO THE CENTER MOST PART OF YOUR HOME AND THAT’S WHEN CATASTROPHIC AND LIFE-THREATENING DAMAGE CAN BE POSSIBLE AND THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SETTING UP ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST TONIGHT AND I GOT TO TELL YOU THINGS ARE KIND OF ESCALATING FOR OUR AREA MORE SO IN THE PAST TWO TO THREE HOURS IS A BIG PIECE OF THIS ENERGY HAS KIND OF SHIFTED A BIT TOWARD THE EAST INSTEAD OF SETTING UP SHOP OVER, MISSISSIPPI AND ALABAMA. IT’S A BIT FARTHER. THE EAST AND MORE SO IN LINE WITH ALABAMA AND GEORGIA, WHICH PUTS THAT LOW-LEVEL JET KIND OF ENTERING OUR AREA AND UNFORTUNATELY GETTING SOME REPORTS OF AT LEAST THREE FATALITIES OUT OF THE TORNADO POSSIBILITY THERE IN ALABAMA THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BACK THAT WAY AND WE WATCHED ONE CELL THAT’S MOVED OUT OF ALABAMA INTO GEORGIA WHICH SITS AS A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING RIGHT NOW NEAR METRO ATLANTA NOW, THIS IS ALL PART OF A LINE THAT’S GOING TO CONTINUE TO PRESS OFF FOR THE EAST OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS AND A SITUATION THAT WE’RE GOING TO WATCH AND IT’S THESE CELLS RIGHT IN HERE LIKE THIS ONE THAT SITS OVER PICKENS COUNTY WATCHING THAT CLOSELY AS IT WATCHES IT MOVES ON THROUGH THESE AREAS HERE AND TO PARTS OF UNION COUNTY. WE HAD THAT VERY STRONG ROTATION AGAIN THIS ACTIVITY IN PARTS A PICKENS COUNTY SHOWING SOME SIGNS THAT IT IS STRENGTHENING AND THIS IS WHAT WE SAW EARLIER HERE VERY SIMILAR TO THE SAME LOCATION AS A CELL IS NOW OFF BY ITSELF. IT’S GOT A SIGNATURE OF SOME STRONG WINDS POSSIBLY SOME HAIL MOVING INTO DOWNTOWN PICKENS. TO TRACK ON THIS CELL AS IT MOVES ON THROUGH AGAIN. NOTHING JUMPING OUT THAT’S INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS TO ME RIGHT NOW, BUT THIS IS A LINE OF STORMS THAT IS INDICATING TO ME THAT IT’S TRYING TO STRENGTHEN SO IT’LL BE IN PICKENS AND LIBERTY EASILY AND TRAVELERS REST ALL WITHIN THE NEXT 20 TO 30 MINUTES SETTING UP SHOP AT ABOUT 6:20 NOW OUR AREA IN THE MEDIUM TO THE HIGH RISK OR MEDIUM TO LOW RISK. I SHOULD SAY THE YELLOW TO THE GREEN HERE FOR SEVERE WEATHER IN TORNADOES THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS BACK TOWARD THE WEST WHICH DOES INCLUDE PARTS OF SW. JOHNNY GRAHAM COUNTY THIS AREA KIND OF CENTERED IN WHERE THAT ENERGY I TOLD YOU THAT BASICALLY SHIFTED A HALF A STATE OVER. THE GREATEST INSTABILITY BACK HERE AND THAT’S WHERE THE GREATEST RISK FOR TORNADOES ARE BUT THAT ENERGY HAS SHIFTED JUST A BIT FARTHER TO THE EAST AND I WOULD SET UP SHOP RIGHT IN HERE IF I COULD REDRAW THIS LINE HERE. I’D KIND OF INCLUDE A BIGGER PORTION OF ATLANTA. WE MAY SEE THIS IN FURTHER. UPDATES AND WHAT MAY BE A WELL-PLACED TORNADO WATCH IN THE COMING HOUR OR SO. SO THE WAY THIS ALL UNFOLDS IN OUR LATEST COMPUTER MODEL IS WE’VE GOT SOME RAIN SOME STORMS TO ABOUT 8:30 9 WILL BE WATCHING ANY NUMBER OF THESE THAT COULD PRODUCE A STRONG STORM OR MAYBE EVEN AN ISOLATED TORNADO AS THAT BOUNDARY LIFTS TOWARD THE NORTH. WE MAY GET A LITTLE BIT OF A LULL HERE AND THEN TWO THREE FOUR O’CLOCK IS THIS LINE PUSHES THROUGH THE AREA THIS KIND OF THE LAST OF THE LINE THAT’S TRYING TO PUSH ON THROUGH BETWEEN FOUR FIVE AND SIX O’CLOCK. WE’LL START TO SEE THIS THREAT START TO COME DOWN BY THE TIME WE’RE GETTING OUT THE DOOR TOMORROW MORNING FOR SCHOOL AND WORK STILL SOME RAIN, BUT THE SEVERE THREAT SHOULD BE OVER WITH EARLIER TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW RAIN COOLED INTO THE 60S ACROSS GREENVILLE SPARTANBURG ANDERSON AND ASHEVILLE, WE’VE GOT SOME CLOUDS OFF IN THE DISTANCE WITH SOME HEAVY RAIN AND SOME STORMS. WE’VE GOT 62 IN GREENVILLE, BUT LOOK AT THIS 79 AND ABBEVILLE, IT’S 78 IN GREENWOOD THESE AREAS RELATIVELY UNTOUCHED BY AS MUCH OF THE RAIN AND IT’S THOSE AREAS THAT ARE MORE VULNERABLE TO SEVERE WEATHER IN THE HOURS, SO TOMORROW MORNING, WE’LL WAKE UP TO SOME RAIN IMPOSSIBLE THUNDERSTORMS EARLY IN THE DAY, BUT AS THE DAY GOES ON CONDITIONS GET MUCH BETTER. WE’LL END UP WITH A SUNNY DAY TEMPERATURES NEAR 80 DEGREES A BEAUTIFUL FRIDAY TAKING SHAPE. WE’LL SEE A HIGH OF 80 IN GREENVILLE 80 IN SPARTANBURG AND 76 IN ASHEVILLE, AND WE DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN THIS WEEKEND. UNFORTUNATELY A WARM FRONT IS GOING TO LIFT NORTH OF OUR AREA ON SATURDAY LATE IN THE DAY GIVING US A GOOD START TODAY ON SATURDAY, BUT A RAINY END AND THEN THIS COLD FRONT’S GONNA GOING TO MARCH THROUGH ON SUNDAY, WHICH COULD US ANOTHER ROUND OF SOME STORMS AND VERY HEAVY RAINFALL PUSHING OUT BY SUNDAY EVENING. SO THE FOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE THIS WE’VE GOT IMPACT DAYS OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS AS WE CONTINUE TO SEE THE THREAT FOR SOME RAIN AND POSSIBLY SOME STORMS ROLLING INTO OUR AREA AND THEN GOING INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. WE’LL SEE SOME CLOUDS BUIL
